Our response to COVID-19
While the situation in each country where we operate continues to change, our overarching priority is to support the health and safety of all Lekela employees. And to do this while continuing to provide clean, reliable power to our customers in African countries. We will also assist our local communities in their own response to the pandemic where there is an urgent need.
To achieve these things, we are being guided by official government advice in each country where we operate. We are also taking all recommended steps to ensure the highest possible standards of health and safety among our employees and on our sites.
Measures we have taken include:
- Lekela employees working from home wherever possible and continuing to adhere to the highest standards of hygiene
- Strict guidelines in place for employees still on-site at our wind farms which are in line with relevant government guidelines in each country
- Ensuring that the contractors we work with on our sites, Vestas and Siemens Gamesa, follow similar policies for their employees
As things stand, we do not foresee any issues with the provision of power from our operational projects as a result of COVID-19. We are also working closely with our contractors on projects in construction to mitigate against any major delays.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely across all our projects and are in continuous dialogue with our customers, utilities, governments and other stakeholders to do so.
