It will deliver utility scale wind and solar projects into commercial operation in Africa over the next five years. Energy is critical to the African continent’s continued growth and Lekela is positioned to provide secure, reliable and competitive renewable energy to consumers such as government, utilities and large-scale industrial consumers.
Lekela’s portfolio of projects consists over 1,340MW at the development and construction stages. It is also pursuing further opportunities across Africa. On 04 November, Lekela signed an MoU for a US$350m wind power station in Egypt following a meeting with President Al-Sisi.
Lekela is a partnership between Actis, the global pan emerging market private equity firm, and Mainstream Renewable Power, the global wind and solar developer and builds on the success of two previous ventures between Actis and Mainstream in South Africa and Chile.
